What a privilege and pleasure to see the Circo de los Niños Annual Fundraising Show last Friday night in San Francisco, Nayarit. For an evening, the Bodega Circo, usually a place of hard work, training and development for the young people in the charitable program created by Cirque du Soleil’s Gilles St. Croix and Monique Voyer , is transformed to bring to fruition every drop of perspiration and moment of trial in a glorious demonstration of the positive effect of the arts in the lives of children. One cannot be unaffected by the excellence of the children’s performances and more importantly the character with which they present them. In a production worthy of the connection to the world-class Cirque du Soleil heritage it bears, the Circo de los Niños enticed us into a dream where the artists thrilled us with performances across the full spectrum. At one moment we were wide-eyed with the beauty and elegance of the Queen’s procession and the next on our feet clapping and shouting with the acrobats tumbling, bouncing and dancing with furious energy and fabulous execution. Watching the performance it is easy to forget that these are young people, that is until the energetic smiles burst forward with that special shine that seems to come direct from a child’s heart.
What a gift to the north coast of the Bay of Banderas! Our ability to adequately thank the team of instructors and volunteers that work tirelessly to invest into the lives of these young people is sadly nowhere near what is deserved but we at LURE salute them just the same. Lord Byron once said, “On with the dance! Let joy be unconfined.” Likewise we at LURE say, On with Circo de los Niños! Muchismas Gracias! Merci Beaucoup! Thank you so very much!
